From The American Spectator:

This is problematic on several levels. Jackson is a shakedown artist who trumps up charges of racism and then rakes in millions of dollars from corporations who pay him to immunize themselves from such charges. The idea that a well-known Jew hater and racist like Jesse Jackson, who has long ties to Louis Farrakhan, would have any standing as an arbiter of racial tolerance reflects poorly on our society. To be absolutely clear, I’m not suggesting that these remarks make Fiorina herself an anti-semite. But I do think the only way to handle the likes of Jackson is to ostracize them from polite society so that they can no longer make a handsome living by engaging in racial incitement.

"We should embrace the opportunity to protect our environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions."

In an interview with Southern California Public Radio, Carly Fiorina discuss her positions on several campaign issues.

“Greenhouse gas emissions and energy policy represent a huge opportunity for California if we do it right.”

“We should embrace the opportunity to protect our environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

“I for one, for example, believe the US should engage in bilateral negotiations with China, because between the US and China, we are responsible, those two nations, for 50% of the greenhouse gas emissions.”

“Regulation can play a very important role in bringing about change.”

“When I was at Hewlett-Packard I pioneered what was then a leading edge domestic partners program.”

“I certainly agree that ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ should be repealed.”

“I applauded President Obama for signing the hate crime legislation.”

Robert Costa’s National Review Online article about McCain ‘08 features veterans’ reactions to Sarah Palin’s “Going Rogue”. One of these reactions includes an indictment of Carly Fiorina:

On the campaign being slow to turn onto the economy (p. 214): — This is “an unfair criticism,” says one McCain aide. “McCain talked about the economy every day. In the summer, we got on high gas prices quickly. That was a good economic argument for us to be on. It was only when Lehman collapsed and we were looking at a global economic meltdown did we make mistakes. McCain said the fundamentals of the economy were strong. Then when our surrogate Carly Fiorina said that neither Palin nor McCain could run Hewlett-Packard, well, that put us on defensive footing. We had been planning to run the last month of the campaign on the economy and reform.”

In fact, Fiorina has a varied history with McCain:

Fiorina prominently lists her experience working with John McCain.

McCain says he “benefited from her no-nonsense way of getting things done when she served on my campaign last year”

Yet she does not mention that she was dismissed from that role for incompetence.

According to Fiorina, McCain was “a man who got the importance of innovation to our economy, got the importance of this new technology, so we bonded right away on that important issue.”

Yet she claims she did not support one of his key decisions – the fall ‘08 Wall Street bailouts

However at the time she vigorously defended those bailouts.

Fiorina voiced very public opinions about Sarah Palin, notably stating “she doesn’t think Sarah Palin is qualified to run a major corporation.”

Fiorina then stated “She has more executive experience than he does and she is the vice presidential nominee and he is the presidential nominee.”

Now, Fiorina refuses to discuss her, stating “I’ve never met Sarah Palin. Next question.”

From FrontPageMag.com, an open letter from Peter BetBasoo to Carly Fiorina regarding her famous speech on Islam. Some excerpts:

Dear Madame Fiorina:
It is with great interest that I read your speech delivered on September 26, 2001, titled “Technology, Business and Our way of Life: What’s Next” [sic]. I was particularly interested in the story you told at the end of your speech, about the Arab/Muslim civilization. As an Assyrian, a non-Arab, Christian native of the Middle East, whose ancestors reach back to 5000 B.C., I wish to clarify some points you made in this little story, and to alert you to the dangers of unwittingly being drawn into the Arabist/Islamist ideology, which seeks to assimilate all cultures and religions into the Arab/Islamic fold.

I know you are a very busy woman, but please find ten minutes to read what follows, as it is a perspective that you will not likely get from anywhere else. I will answer some of the specific points you made in your speech, then conclude with a brief perspective on this Arabist/Islamist ideology.

Arabs and Muslims appeared on the world scene in 630 A.D., when the armies of Muhammad began their conquest of the Middle East. We should be very clear that this was a military conquest, not a missionary enterprise, and through the use of force, authorized by a declaration of a Jihad against infidels, Arabs/Muslims were able to forcibly convert and assimilate non-Arabs and non-Muslims into their fold. Very few indigenous communities of the Middle East survived this – primarily Assyrians, Jews, Armenians and Coptics (of Egypt).

You state,
“and perhaps we can learn a lesson from his [Suleiman] example: It was leadership based on meritocracy, not inheritance. It was leadership that harnessed the full capabilities of a very diverse population that included Christianity, Islamic, and Jewish traditions.”

In fact, the Ottomans were extremely oppressive to non-Muslims. For example, young Christian boys were forcefully taken from their families, usually at the age of 8-10, and inducted into the Janissaries, (yeniceri in Turkish) where they were Islamized and made to fight for the Ottoman state. What literary, artistic or scientific achievements of the Ottomans can we point to? We can, on the other hand, point to the genocide of 750,000 Assyrians, 1.5 million Armenians and 400,000 Greeks in World War One by the Kemalist “Young Turk” government. This is the true face of Islam.

Full letter here.
